The Baby Food Experiment

My husband and I have an 8-month old baby girl whom eats extremely well.  And by "well," I mean healthy.  By "healthy" I mean her solid foods are organic, containing only natural sugars found in untouched, unprocessed whole foods, no added salt, colors, preservatives, and so on. In fact, she hasnt even eaten meat yet.

Our baby eats as whole and healthy as it gets.  She eats greens (I boost the amount if she gets a little cold (oh, NEVER believe a parent when they tell you their runny-nosed child is merely "teething".  Our daughter has gotten two colds from "teething" children.)), veggies of all types and colors, beans, fruit of all kinds (well, no citrus yet), sometimes a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and olive oil!  Oh, and she's had a bit of pamesan.

Our baby eats like we all need to be eating; like my husband and I need to be eating!  No junk.  Nothing processed -other than being blended.  I don't even give her baby cereal.  We make our own quinoa cereal, which I mix with squash and fruit.

I started thinking (smell the fire?)... She eats this food, and she's vibrantly healthy, soooo happy and content, she's got a beautiful glow to her whole body, and she's extremely "present" at all times.  What would happen if we ate her baby food?  I mean, the portion sizes are probably closer to what our body's need!

Would our bodies detox?  Would we gain energy?  Oh, I would LOVE some energy!  I'm so sick of feeling tired all the time!  Would we lose weight?  How would we feel?!

So, here we are.  We went to the store, picked-up close to 60 packages each (2 pkgs., 4 times a day) of Tyler Florence's Sprout baby food, and today we commit ourselves for the next 7 days to eating as healthy as our baby is eating.

Today is Day #1, and we're psyched!

In the coming days, I'll be blogging about the exact foods we're eating, how we feel, and the changes we've noticed.  We'd love it if you joined us for the journey!

Have a beautiful day, Colleen <3
